Downscaling

When do I need it?

  • For web videos, lower the resolution to match the display size on the web page, and gain file size savings.
  • For social media, lower the resolution to match the platform’s recommended size

Social media

When you’re uploading videos to services like Youtube, you rarely have to think about downscaling. Youtube will downscale your video for you. If however you run into their max file size limit, you can use downscaling to reduce the file size as well, without compromising on the quality.

Downscaling relatively

Downscaling relatively If you know the video is definitely bigger than what’s needed, and just need “a smaller video”, you can downscale to a percentage of the original size. Select the % option and choose your desired percentage.

Downscaling absolutely

Downscaling absolutely If you know exactly how wide or high the video should be, you can set the exact dimensions.

  1. Choose either Width or Height in the dropdown
  2. Enter the exact dimension in the input field

The other dimension will be automatically calculated and shown in the other input field.
